1. The personalized data from Google ad settings are pretty accurate, they captured all the major categories such as age, gender, interests… However, they also have some categories that I am not interested in at all, these are coffee, dogs, Honda, parenting, visual art & design.
2. I am actually really surprised by all the factors. The ones that I am not interested in at all surprised me because I cannot relate how Google assumes I am interested in these categories. On the other hand, the correct categories aside from the wrong ones completely summarized my personal interest without a single missing! The reason for that is probably because I do a lot of research online and use google all the time.
3. I haven’t turned anything off since I did not know Google Ad Settings before, I just turned off the categories that I am not interested in while writing this blog post.
4. One factor that I have is Mac OS, I think the reason Mac OS shows up in my Google Ad Settings is that I use Apple products including the MacBook. I did a lot of research before buying this laptop and did a lot of research on relative information like quick cast key settings, software update, bugs… The other factor from top of the list is cats. Obviously, Google knows I have a cat since I always search online comparing cat-related products and pet groomers. Last but not least, a few car brands show up on the top of the list. The reason for that is I love cars and always watch car related videos (new model intro, off-roading, DIY… ).
5. Overall, I think Google did a good job of capturing my interests, I was surprised that the ad settings is a completed set of hobbies and interests of myself.
